Sermon Writing 101

In this course, participants will learn the steps for writing a sermon in one week and will have a foundation to develop as a preacher.

During these classes, you will learn the basics of how to write a sermon:

Session 1

  • Rough Read a Bible Passage
  • Research (Exegete) the Bible Passage

Session 2

  • Develop the Sermon Theme
  • Develop the main points of the Sermon

Session 3

  • Select and use illustrations
  • Write an Introduction & Conclusion for the Sermon
  • Write a manuscript

Session 4

  • Preach Ideas & Not Words
  • Develop a worship service around the scripture and sermon.

Dates and Details

Class meets online via Zoom. A webcam and microphone or headset are required. A high speed internet connection is recommended.
